Yes, the rumours are true, Stagecoach West Scotland have buses which run on 100% recycled cooking oil which local residents can help collect!

This groundbreaking environmental initiative saw the conversion of 8 fully accessible, single deck buses from standard Diesel to 100% waste-derived biofuel. Residents on the route were given containers to collect their used cooking oil which could then be exchanged for discounted bus tickets!

The BioBus operates on Service 1 between Stewarton and Darvel via the bustling town of Kilmarnock.
In the first 18 months, this project realised significant environmental benefits by reducing carbon emissions by up to 1440 tonnes.
